We recently had the “check engine” light pop on our 2002 F150. Actually the light in our vehicle says”service engine soon” . That light often strikes fear and panic into the hearts of our clients. There is no need to panic….the system is telling you that something is failing in the smog control or engine control system. Obviously, our award winning service department will need to get a look at the problem before a bigger problem develops. The process is relatively simple, our service tech will hook your vehicle up to the diagnostic equipment, the equpiment will run a variety of tests in conjunction with your vehicle’s computerized ignition system and then give us a read out of a series of codes that will tell us where the fault lies. At that point, our service advisor will call you and describe the results, along with an estimate of repair. No need to panic…these things are fixable, your vehicle is not going to blow up, and the repair is not always an expensive one. Keep in mind that the vehicle will not pass a California smog check with a check engine light on.
